AKU®-FLON PFA Hollow bars untempered

Perfluoroalkoxy polymers (PFA) are thermoplastic copolymers of tetrafluoroethylene with perfluorinated vinyl ethers with high temperature resistance and continuous temperature use of over 250 °C and are weldable
The following dimensions are tool measurements, meaning that the semi-finished product measurements are smaller by the material-specific shrinkage of 1.2%.

On request, these hollow rods are also available in a tempered version, in which case the overall shrinkage increases to 3.2 %.

Perfluoroalkoxyalkane

abbreviated as PFA, is a high-temperature resistant thermoplastic from the family of fluoropolymers.
PFA is produced through the copolymerization of tetrafluoroethylene (TFE) and perfluoroalkoxy fluoroethylene (PAVE).

Properties of PFA:

  • High temperature resistance:
PFA is extremely heat-resistant and can be used continuously at temperatures up to 260°C (500°F) without losing its structural properties.

  • Chemical resistance:
PFA exhibits excellent resistance to a wide range of chemicals, including acids, bases, solvents, and other aggressive substances. This makes it suitable for applications in the chemical industry.

  • Low friction:
PFA has low friction, making it interesting for sliding and bearing applications.

  • Electrical insulation:
Due to its electrical insulation properties, PFA is used in the electrical industry for the production of cable sheaths, insulators, and other components.

  • Transparency:
PFA is transparent and offers good light transmission. This property makes it interesting for applications where good visibility is required.

  • Good processability:
PFA can be shaped by various processing methods such as extrusion, injection molding, and thermoforming, enabling its versatile application.

Applications of PFA:

PFA is used in various industries, including:

  • Chemical industry: pipelines, valves, pumps and fittings due to its high temperature resistance and chemical resistance.

  • Electrical and electronics industry: cable sheathing, insulators and other electrical components due to its electrical insulation properties.

  • Food industry: Due to its high purity and food compatibility, PFA is used in food processing.

  • Medical technology: hoses, seals and other components due to its biocompatibility.

Thanks to its outstanding properties, PFA is a versatile plastic that is used in demanding technical applications.
