AKU®-FLON PVDF FLAT BARS or SHEETS made of PVDF, PVDF/GK and PVDF/GV

PVDF is a fluoropolymer and has a higher rigidity and pressure resistance than the related PTFE (Teflon®).
However, sliding behavior and electrical insulation behavior are somewhat worse.
It has high strength and toughness even at low temperatures and is self-extinguishing.
The continuous operating temperature is between -30°C and +150°C.
PVDF is highly resistant to chlorine, bromine and high-energy radiation.

  • high strength and rigidity
  • High toughness (even in cold conditions)
  • High chemical resistance
  • Very low water absorption
  • self-extinguishing
  • good sliding properties and abrasion resistance
  • High UV resistance
  • fluorine-containing components can be released in the event of fire
  • limited bondability but weldable
  • Relatively high coefficient of linear expansion

PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) sheets are high-quality plastic sheets made from the fluorine-containing polymer PVDF. PVDF is known for its exceptional resistance to chemicals, UV radiation and extreme temperatures, making it a preferred material for demanding industrial applications.

PVDF sheets offer excellent chemical resistance to a wide range of aggressive chemicals, acids and bases. They are therefore ideal for applications in the chemical industry, semiconductor production, food processing and other sectors where corrosive substances are present.

In addition, PVDF sheets are also extremely resistant to UV radiation and weathering, which makes them suitable for outdoor use. They retain their color and mechanical properties even with long-term exposure to sunlight and weathering, which extends their service life.

PVDF sheets are also thermally stable and can withstand temperatures of up to 150°C without losing their mechanical properties. This makes them an ideal choice for applications in high-temperature and cryogenic technology, electronics and other areas where high temperature resistance is required.

The smooth surface of the PVDF panels facilitates cleaning and maintenance and makes them hygienic and easy to care for. They are available in various thicknesses and sizes to meet the requirements of different applications. From the construction of chemical equipment and tanks to the cladding of facades and roofs, PVDF sheets offer a reliable and durable solution for a wide range of industrial applications.

Polyvinylidene fluoride
PVDF for short, is a thermoplastic known for its excellent chemical resistance, high temperature resistance and other special properties.

Properties of PVDF:

  • Chemical resistance:
PVDF is characterized by exceptional chemical resistance. It is resistant to many aggressive chemicals, acids and bases, which makes it attractive for applications in the chemical and petrochemical industries.

  • High temperature resistance:
PVDF retains its mechanical properties at high temperatures, making it suitable for applications in thermally demanding environments.

  • Good mechanical strength:
PVDF shows good mechanical strength, which makes it suitable for structural applications in various industries.

  • Electrical insulation:
PVDF is a good electrical insulator and is used in the electrical industry for cable sheathing, protective conduits and other applications.

  • UV resistance: PVDF is stable against UV radiation, which makes it suitable for outdoor applications or in environments with intense sunlight.

  • Flame resistance:
PVDF is flame retardant and meets high fire protection requirements.

  • Resistance to radiation:
PVDF shows good resistance to ionizing radiation, which makes it attractive for applications in nuclear power plants or medical devices.

Applications of PVDF:

PVDF is widely used in various industries, including:

  • Chemical industry: pipelines, pump components, containers and fittings due to its chemical resistance.

  • Electronics: cable sheathing, connectors and other electronic components due to its electrical insulation properties.

  • Building industry: Facade cladding, roof coverings and other construction elements due to its UV resistance and weather resistance.

  • Medical technology: Due to its biocompatibility, PVDF is used in medical applications such as implants and surgical instruments.

The special properties of PVDF make it an important material in applications that place high demands on chemical resistance, temperature resistance and electrical insulation.
